Breakfast in Blackall

Rolling back towards home.  Left Longreach at 5:30, girls slept all the way.  Good run into Black all for breakfast.  Back at the Barcoo Hotel. 

Parkdale Shearers Camp

Arrived at the Parkdale Shearers camp and stayed the night.  Can't beat this place for putting things into perspective. 

Arrived in Longreach

Arrived in Longreach after night at the shearers camp.  Nice to have the comforts of a motel, and a short walk to a cooked breakfast in the morning and a cold beer of the afternoon.
Look closely at the photo with the hedge to see the kangaroo that came into town.

Lunch at Blackall

Stopped at Blackall for lunch on Easter Monday.  A lunch in a classic Aussie pub.  Andrew had rump steak and chips.  It was excellent.

Chareville

Just arrived I'm Charleville, nice trip up from Collarenibri this morning.  Stopped for petrol and cup if tea at Dirrenbandi and lunch at truck stop at Cunnunulla.  Plenty of dead roos on the road, but luckily we didn't see any live ones thus afternoon.  Plenty of emus and a few goats.   Saw a nice wedge tail eagle and plenty of hawks picking on the dead roos on the road.

"Derrima" homestead

The homestead has been done up on the last five years.   Like all old buildings they go through phases.   My grandparents were here in the 1950's so a bit of history.

QLD / NSW State border

The MacIntyre River at Goondiwindi is the state border.  With daily light saving the time is different on the other bank.  (This blog post didn't originally send, so is out if order, will fix later)

Horse riding

Sophie and Turi riding horses.  The first afternoon in the yard and today in the paddock.  Thanks Emily and Jack, their cousins.

Arrived on Derrima

Derrima is a property outside Collarenibri where Andrew's cousin lives.  Derrima has been in the Barton family for a long time.  It hasn't "rained" for three years and it starts when we are 20kms from town.   It is so good to see the place getting rain and smell of fresh rain on dry dirt is something else.  

Raining in Moree

Petrol stop in Goondiwindi

Lovely town. Very quiet in Good Friday though.   Overcast, but no rain.  The rain stopped between here and Toowoomba.  The traffic has been great no problem at all.   The girls are back on their phones as they gave signal back.  It has been quiet for an hour or so.

Toowoomba is cold and wet!

Breakfast in Toowoomba, cold and wet.  Would be great if this weather followed us west.

Booked the car

Booked the car today.  A Nissan Pathfinder.  Found that car availability was changing getting closer to Easter, no surprise there.
